Even thought The location of the root chakra technaccally lies in the pubic/tailbone area of the spine. It deals greatly with the connection to the natural world and need of survival.
I have a bit of trouble with staying grounded, so looking down and seeing my feet on this earth along with the root chakra on my foot, I remember to stay grounded and to practice gradiude for the safety I feel on this earth. We often forget where we came from.
A side note: as Americans many of us cannot trace our liniage back to where we came from. It is easier now that we have tools and DNA test kits to find our harritage.
If you know how your ancestors lived in tune with nature and what they did to survive you can find ways honor them.
The root chakra is also the stem that ties us to our ancestors. If we remember where we came from utimatly it will lead us back to the earth. Remeber a balanced root chakra looks like: Feelings of safety and security
Sense of belonging and connection to one's community
Fear of loss or abandonment
Sense of being grounded and connected to the physical body.
We can also have to much of a good thing.
So The root chakra will need to be balanced along with some of the higher 6 chakras
